Hyperhidrosis is the condition in which we sweat more than the body’s normal needs for thermoregulation.
When excessive sweating affects the hands, feet, and armpits, it is called primary or focal hyperhidrosis. In the majority of primary hyperhidrosis cases, no specific cause is found. If sweating occurs as a result of another medical condition, it is called secondary hyperhidrosis. Sweating may occur over the entire body or in a specific area.
The easiest, most effective, and safe solution for focal hyperhidrosis is injectable administration of botulinum toxin type A in the affected area. The medication blocks the glands from overproducing sweat without affecting normal sweat production, thereby providing relief.
A few days after the injection, excessive sweat production stops and the effect lasts approximately 6-12 months, a period that may last longer for some individuals.
Once the effects of Botox wear off, the procedure can be repeated. The repetitions can be done according to the patient’s needs.
The procedure is done by injection. To avoid pain, we apply an anesthetic ointment to the area where the injections will be made. Immediately afterwards, someone can return to work or their usual activities.
